"You're Alive!": Emotional Reunion as Man Finds Dog Lost in Los Angeles Wildfires
A California resident was brought to tears as he reunited with his dog, lost amid the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, in a moment captured by American television cameras.

"My God, you're alive!"
Casey Colvin, a resident of Pacific Palisades—a neighborhood ravaged by the fires—thought his beloved dog, Oreo, was gone forever. Thanks to the power of social media and local support, he experienced a heartwarming reunion that aired on national TV.
NBC News journalist Liz Kreutz had first encountered Colvin at the start of the fires as he searched desperately for his two dogs, Oreo and Tika Tika Tika. The latter, a small black dog, was rescued and returned to him safely.
Missing for Five Days
That left Oreo still unaccounted for. Determined to help, Liz Kreutz shared a photo of the missing dog on social media. With the combined efforts of online supporters and firefighters, Oreo was eventually discovered five days later, alive and unharmed, at a neighbor’s home after miraculously surviving the blaze.
The emotional reunion was captured on video by Kreutz and shared across social media platforms. The footage shows Colvin breaking down in tears as he hugs Oreo tightly. "I'll never let you go again! My God, you're alive! Thank you, God," he exclaimed, visibly moved, while expressing his gratitude to the NBC News journalist for her assistance.
A City in Crisis
Colvin is one of approximately 180,000 residents evacuated in Los Angeles due to the devastating wildfires, which have caused widespread destruction. The latest reports confirm 24 fatalities, and strong, hot winds continue to threaten the area as of January 14.
This deeply personal moment serves as a glimmer of hope amid the widespread devastation caused by the fires, highlighting the resilience and kindness of a community coming together during a crisis.
