The accident occurred on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, near the Feyssine Park in Villeurbanne. Witnesses reported that the young man’s dog had entered the river but was struggling to return to the bank. Without hesitation, the owner plunged into the Rhône to save his companion.

Sadly, while the dog managed to reach the riverbank on its own, the man was caught by the strong current. Despite frantic calls for help from onlookers, he disappeared beneath the water.

Rescue Efforts and Tragic Discovery

Emergency services were quickly alerted. Firefighters launched a search operation that lasted several hours. Later that day, they recovered the man’s body across from the park.
