Woman Abandons Her Dog on a Busy Road and Speeds Away—Shelter Witnesses the Scene
In a shocking act of cruelty, a woman abruptly stopped her car on a busy roadside in France, tied her dog to a pole just meters from an animal shelter, and drove off at high speed. Thankfully, witnesses stepped in—saving the terrified German Shepherd and giving him a second chance.
A Cold and Calculated Abandonment
On the evening of Friday, April 11, 2025, at around 5:20 PM, a motorist witnessed a disturbing scene on the RD67 near Gray, in the Haute-Saône region of eastern France. Amid steady traffic, a green Renault Clio suddenly pulled over. The driver got out, opened the back door, and led a young German Shepherd to the roadside.
Without hesitation, she tied the dog to a pole—then jumped back into her car and sped away, leaving the animal completely exposed to danger.
Fortunately, another driver saw everything and quickly intervened to ensure the dog’s safety.
Just Meters from Safety
This wasn’t a random act of abandonment. The woman had chosen her location carefully—just a few meters from the entrance of the SPA de Gray, a local animal shelter.
Staff from the shelter had witnessed the scene unfolding in real time. They rushed outside and immediately brought the dog, a 1.5-year-old male now named Falco, into safety.
According to the shelter, Falco was visibly shaken and confused, struggling to process the trauma of being dumped so abruptly by the person he trusted most.

Legal Action Already Underway
The SPA team didn’t let the matter slide. Since they had seen the car and its license plate clearly, they swiftly documented the incident and filed an official police complaint with the local gendarmerie.
Abandoning an animal is a criminal offense under French law, punishable by fines and even prison time. The shelter is determined to pursue justice, ensuring that Falco’s former owner is held accountable for her actions.
A New Life Ahead for Falco
Despite his traumatic experience, Falco is now in safe hands. The shelter has begun his medical care, ensuring he receives all the veterinary attention he needs. Once he has physically and emotionally recovered, Falco will be put up for adoption.
