Stolen Dog Reunited with Owner After Dramatic Rescue from Train Tracks

After being stolen and tied to railroad tracks, Princess Coco is finally home safe with her loving family, thanks to the quick actions of local heroes.

A Shocking Discovery Behind a Casino

Earlier this week in Everett, Massachusetts, two casino employees made a disturbing discovery: a small white dog tied to the MBTA Commuter Rail tracks behind the Encore Boston Harbor casino. They immediately called 911, setting off a rescue mission that would soon bring Princess Coco back to her worried family.

When Everett Police and animal control officer Stacia Gorgone arrived, they found the dog had managed to chew through part of her leash but remained dangerously close to the tracks.

The Theft That Led to a Heartbreaking Ordeal

Authorities revealed that Princess Coco had been stolen from her owner Juan Santiago's yard the day before her rescue. Santiago described the devastating feeling of losing her and said he feared he would never see her again.

Animal control confirmed that small, light-colored dogs are often targeted by thieves because they can be easily dyed and sold online.

A Rescue That Required Courage

Gorgone bravely climbed over a barbed-wire fence to reach Princess Coco, who was terrified and initially tried to bite her rescuer. Despite the fear and chaos, Gorgone safely secured the little dog, who later warmed up to her once safe at the Everett Police Department.

The reunion between Santiago and Princess Coco took place Friday, after he provided proof of ownership and had her newly microchipped for extra protection.

Raising Awareness About Pet Theft

The Everett Police Department emphasized that not enough pet owners realize how seriously they take reports of stolen dogs. They hope Princess Coco's story will shed light on the broader issue of pet theft, which leaves many owners feeling helpless.

Thanks to the combined efforts of police, animal control, and volunteers from Missing Dogs Massachusetts, Princess Coco’s story ended with a joyful reunion — and a lesson in vigilance for all pet owners.

Princess Coco’s Bright New Chapter

Now safe at home, Princess Coco is starting fresh with a new dress and a new microchip. Santiago said his house feels full again with her return, and he is beyond grateful to everyone who helped bring his beloved companion back.
