Khlipper, the Robot Dog That Is Turning Heads in Barcelona
Khlipper, a robotic dog, has become an attraction in Barcelona’s L’Eixample district, fascinating both locals and tourists as it strolls through the streets. Designed as a companion for elderly individuals and those with disabilities, Khlipper is already acting like a real pet—following its owner, running, jumping, and even offering a paw.

A Project with a Purpose
Khlipper’s owner, Enric Lucea, acquired the robot two months ago with a vision to develop it into an assistance dog. "The majority of people are amazed and smile when they see it," Enric told Informativos Telecinco. "Some people are skeptical at first, but they quickly warm up to it and want it to shake hands."
While Khlipper currently operates with pre-programmed functions, Enric aims to enhance its capabilities to make it more useful in daily life.
The Future of the Robot Dog
"Khlipper is here to be helpful. Right now, it’s still learning, but in the future, it could assist elderly individuals and those with mobility challenges," Enric explains. His goal is for the robot to eventually hold conversations, remind owners about medications and medical appointments, retrieve objects, and even help people dress.

Mixed Reactions from the Public
Although many are intrigued by Khlipper, opinions remain divided. "Its movements are very realistic," commented one observer, impressed by the lifelike behavior. Another passerby, however, stated, "I prefer a real dog." A woman admitted she found it amusing but thought, "It’s a bit strange to see something like this on the street."
Despite the mixed reactions, Khlipper is undeniably drawing attention, raising questions about the future of robotic pets in everyday life.
