Dog Rescued After Falling into the Seine River and Hiding in Normandy Sewers
In an extraordinary turn of events, an adult husky was rescued after falling into the Seine River in Rives-en-Seine, Normandy. The incident occurred on the morning of Thursday, January 23, 2025, when the Service Départemental d’Incendie et de Secours (Sdis 76) was alerted to save the animal, which had been spotted drifting in the river and seeking refuge in the sewer system.

The Rescue Efforts
The call for help came at 10:25 a.m. from Caudebec-en-Caux, a district of Rives-en-Seine. Seven firefighters, including a specialized water rescue team, were dispatched to the scene. The team conducted thorough reconnaissance on foot and by boat to locate the distressed animal.
At around 2 p.m., the husky was finally located within the stormwater drainage network. The water rescue team, in collaboration with a firefighter veterinarian, successfully retrieved the dog from the sewer system.

Safe and Sound
After the dramatic rescue, the husky was handed over to the municipal police for further care and eventual reunification with its owner. The operation highlighted the dedication and skill of the emergency services involved.
