Dog Found Decapitated in Tenerife, Head Left at Owner's Doorstep
A man is under investigation by the Guardia Civil in Tenerife after a dog was found brutally decapitated in the town of Tegueste. The disturbing incident occurred last week and sparked outrage both locally and online, where a petition demanding justice for the animal has already gathered more than 5,600 signatures on Change.org.

Head left in front of the house
The dog's owner filed a complaint with the Guardia Civil after discovering the severed head of his pet left outside the entrance of his home. The security forces confirmed the gruesome discovery and launched an immediate investigation.
The case has been handled by officers from the Tacoronte main post and the SEPRONA unit (Nature Protection Service), who coordinated their efforts to collect evidence and trace the crime.
Suspect identified and investigated
Thanks to the work of the agents and the technical reports provided by SEPRONA, authorities located the dog's body and were able to gather sufficient evidence to identify a suspect. The individual is now under official investigation for a serious case of animal abuse.
The case has been transferred to the duty court of San Cristóbal de La Laguna for further legal proceedings.

Prison sentences for animal cruelty in Spain
According to article 340 bis of the Spanish Penal Code, anyone who causes the death of a domestic, tamed, or controlled animal — by any means, including acts of a sexual nature — can face a prison sentence of 12 to 24 months.
In addition, the convicted person may be disqualified for a period of two to four years from working in professions, trades, or businesses related to animals, as well as from owning animals.
These penalties can be increased if weapons, tools, or methods dangerous to the life or health of the animal were used.
