Armed Robbers Steal Puppy from Owner in Broad Daylight in Lyon
A shocking incident unfolded in the heart of the city when three armed individuals stole a three-month-old German shepherd puppy from its owner on Saturday, May 17. The young man, aged 21, was threatened with a knife as the assailants fled with his beloved pet, named Ashra. Authorities have launched an investigation, appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Violent Daylight Robbery
The disturbing event occurred in Lyon's 3rd arrondissement. The victim was casually walking his dog, Ashra, when suddenly confronted by three masked men wearing caps, sunglasses, and, in one case, a surgical mask to conceal their identities. One of the suspects feigned affection towards the puppy, approaching as if to pet it, while another wielded a knife.
Owner Threatened, Puppy Snatched
Despite his efforts to protect Ashra, the young man was overwhelmed. The attackers swiftly cut the leash using a knife, briefly grazing the owner in the process. Fortunately, the victim sustained no serious injuries, but he described the experience as deeply traumatizing.
"We are in shock," the owner told local media. "It’s extremely painful to think someone could just rip a part of our lives away like this."
Community Appeal for Help
Ashra had been adopted from a family-run shelter for €1,400 by the young man and his partner, both deeply affected by this distressing loss. A formal complaint for assault and theft has been filed, alongside an urgent call for witnesses. The couple has actively shared numerous images of Ashra across social media platforms, desperately hoping someone will recognize and help reunite them with their stolen puppy.
