Abandoned and Tied to a Fence: The Miraculous Rescue of Levey the Dog
Tied to a fence outside an abandoned school in St. Louis, Missouri, Levey was discovered just in time. The severely emaciated dog had lost all strength to call for help. Thankfully, someone noticed her desperate situation and alerted the volunteers at Stray Rescue of St. Louis, who rushed to her aid and began her journey back to life.

Saved from the Brink
When the volunteers first arrived, Levey was skeletal, weak, and unable to even stand. Despite her physical condition, her eyes still shone with a glimmer of hope, revealing her desire to live. Urgently transported to the shelter's veterinary clinic, Levey immediately received medical attention and showed incredible sweetness and trust towards those caring for her.
However, the path to recovery was not easy. To avoid refeeding syndrome—a dangerous condition that can affect severely malnourished animals—Levey was carefully fed small amounts of food each day. Gradually, she began regaining weight, strength, and her zest for life.

A Second Chance at Happiness
Within just one week, Levey’s transformation was remarkable. She regained her strength, energy, and trust in humans. Levey also made a new friend named Alaric, another rescued dog recovering from severe malnutrition. The two bonded quickly, playing and comforting each other, proving that shared suffering can turn into deep friendship.
Though improving daily, Levey isn't quite ready for her forever home yet. She first needs a temporary foster family to help her fully recover physically and emotionally. However, her future is now bright, filled with love instead of fear, and companionship instead of loneliness.
As the rescue volunteers happily shared on Facebook: "Now comes the fun part—spoiling her and helping her gain weight!" Levey is finally ready to be loved and, this time, forever.
