"A Dream Come True": British Couple Reunited with Stolen Dog After Seven Years

Daisy, a Labrador belonging to a couple from Norfolk, England, was stolen in 2017 and only recently found in early February 2025. The dog was reportedly taken near the couple’s home by illegal breeders, who loaded her into a van and disappeared without a trace.

Desperate Search and Public Outcry

Devastated by the loss of their beloved pet, the couple launched an extensive search campaign. They distributed missing dog posters across social media and news outlets, a plea that gained significant attention, including support from British actor Tom Hardy. Their story sparked widespread concern over pet theft, leading to a petition urging the UK government to take stronger action against the crime. The petition amassed over 100,000 signatures, ultimately contributing to the passage of a new pet theft law in 2024.

Despite their efforts, authorities were unable to track down the van or identify the thieves, leaving the couple without answers for years.

An Unexpected Breakthrough

The long-awaited breakthrough came in early February 2025 when an inspector from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) brought a Labrador into a veterinary clinic for medical treatment. The dog, suffering from mammary tumors, was scanned for a microchip. To everyone’s surprise, the scan revealed that the dog was Daisy, missing for seven years.

A Tearful Reunion

Daisy was returned to her rightful owners last Thursday. Overwhelmed with emotion, the couple shared their joy: “We kept a picture of her on our mantelpiece and looked at it every day, wondering where she was. It truly feels like a dream come true that the RSPCA found her and brought her back home—exactly where she belongs. We are beyond grateful.”

Ongoing Investigation

While Daisy is finally home, the mystery of her abduction remains unsolved. Authorities continue to investigate the case, hoping to bring those responsible to justice. Meanwhile, her owners are focused on giving her the love and care she was deprived of for so many years.
