Quarter was left at a shelter in California by her former owner who claimed that he bit. This label can be extremely difficult for an animal to shake.

The five-year-old Chihuahua was scared and uncertain when he arrived, for obvious reasons. He reportedly nipped at one of the workers when he was being taken in, dooming him to a life of quarantine, reports The Dodo.

He was deprived of human contact for weeks, and it meant that he would only be released to a certified rescue and must sign a legal waver. Many dogs in his situation end up euthanized.

Traci Jean Gallegos-Schuver from Little Diva Rescue told The Dodo:

That means the rescue is releasing the shelter of all liability for any kind of harm that may come to somebody else in the event that somebody is bit.

Thankfully, Little Diva Rescue, an organization that specifically takes in Chihuahuas, was willing to take that risk

They brought her to the veterinarian, and were pleasantly surprised to learn that his "aggressiveness" was completely blown out of proportion.

He was a little fearful, but not once did he show any signs of aggression. Nothing. Even the vet said, 'Oh my god, he's just a misunderstood dog.' He's just been nothing but a gem.

They decided to rename him Teddy, to better represent his sweet personality.

Gallegos-Schuver took him home to foster for three weeks. During that time she did not notice any combative or defensive tendencies.

She even left him with a friend at one point without any problems.

When Teddy finally got put up for adoption, his winning personality won him a place in the home of a Virginia couple.

On the plane ride across the country he was his typical charming self, once more proving that the "aggressive biter" label was completely misplaced.

On the plane, he met four of the flight attendants. He gave them all kisses. He was just wonderful.

When he reached his knew home, he immediately warmed up to his new family. Teddy's ending is a happy one, but there are so many more dogs in shelters who deserves forever families.
