Stevie, a four-month-old Pekingese, was discovered in March 2017 in a suburban park outside of Athens, Greece, in a torrential down pore. The puppy was frozen and had little chance of survival.
It was a group called SCARS who handled the rescue. After looking him over, the volunteer quickly realized the reason for his cowardly abandonment. Stevie had a particular type of dysplasia: the whole left side of his body malfunctioned.
According to the association, the Pekingese was most likely victim of a bad breeder or a pet shop with little regard to where its animals came from – no doubt a puppy mill. After being sold to someone, Stevie was abandoned for being different.
Thankfully, the puppy was found in time, and he's now living a dream life, despite his handicap. Stevie is still blind in his left eye, deaf in his left ear and his head is permanently tilted to the side. His walk isn't very steady. But that doesn't stop the adorable animal from bursting with energy.
Still being looked after by SCARS, Stevie is waiting for his forever family who will take care of him for the rest of his life!

Tens of thousands of dogs and cats end up in shelters each year, either due to neglect, abuse or abandonment. Consider adopting before you shop, and visit your local shelters before going to a breeder. Every dog and cat deserves a fair chance at a forever home.
