Juno and Jordan ended up at the East Coast Claws and Paws animal shelter in New Jersey as the only survivors of a litter of puppies, whose mother was unable to nurse them.
This tragic history made the sibling pups extremely close, to the point where they were inseparable. Unfortunately, this can make dogs more difficult to adopt out, as most people are only looking for one at a time.
Tina Wismar wasn't looking for any dogs when she walked into the shelter two years ago. Her senior dog, Perry, had just passed away, and she and her sons had come for some puppy playtime. She told The Dodo:
We went to the shelter, which was just a few minutes down the road from my house, and we started playing with these dogs. They were just wonderful.
She and her sons fell in love immediately, and when shelter workers asked which puppy they were interested in adopting, she instantly said, "both."
They were so attached to each other. If one would run off, the other would follow right behind, and they’d be tumbling on the floor together, and they were both licking and kissing me and my sons. They were like a show — an act.
Wismar's husband was not a huge fan of the news when he heard later that day. He though that having two young dogs around the house would be too much work – and rightly so.
She admits that it hasn't always been easy keeping the pair out of trouble, but she wouldn't have it any other way.
They are just adorable, running around with each other and constantly looking for each other. To this day, they’re inseparable. […] They’re so fun, they’re very sweet and loving, and they’ve brought a lot of joy to our family. They’ve really made our family come together.

Tens of thousands of dogs and cats end up in shelters each year, either due to neglect, abuse or abandonment. Consider adopting before you shop, and visit your local shelters before going to a breeder. Every dog and cat deserves a fair chance at a forever home.
