After months of investigation, authorities confirmed on February 12, 2025, that the officer had allegedly orchestrated the theft, instructing an acquaintance to remove the dog. This acquaintance, along with his son-in-law, executed the plan. The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested the individual who physically took the dog and filed criminal charges against both the policeman and his accomplice.

Evidence Leads to Arrests

Security camera footage and witness reports led investigators to track the van and its driver. Upon searching the vehicle, authorities discovered Lucky’s identification tag and traces of his fur, confirming the connection. The primary suspect, a 29-year-old man, was detained but refused to cooperate with authorities. Further investigations revealed that the theft was allegedly commissioned by the 42-year-old Banyoles police officer, who had recruited a 51-year-old tow truck operator to carry out the act.

Public Outcry and Ongoing Search for Lucky

The case quickly gained traction on social media, with the hashtag #JusticeForLucky trending as citizens demanded answers. Animal rights activists and local supporters organized protests, urging the authorities to intensify their search for the missing dog. Meanwhile, Lucky’s owners reported receiving threatening phone calls, allegedly from one of the suspects.

Despite the arrests and legal proceedings, Lucky remains missing. Law enforcement continues to follow leads to locate the stolen pet and determine whether he was sold, relocated, or harmed.
