Nébé, an Abused Dog, Rescued by Police Just in Time

A Victim of Severe Abuse

Contacted by Actu Marseille, Xavier Bonnard, president of the SPA Marseille-Provence, described the dog's alarming condition. At just two years old, Nébé was found in a state of extreme emaciation, bearing clear evidence of violence.

"He had been beaten, and due to a lack of care, his wounds were becoming infected," Bonnard stated.

Thanks to a report made to the SPA, an investigation was launched, leading to the rescue of the suffering animal.

Owner to Face Justice

Following the intervention, the Marseille municipal police identified the dog's owner. The individual will now face legal action for animal abuse.

Authorities have reiterated that animal cruelty is a criminal offense, subject to severe penalties. Under Article 521-1 of the French Penal Code, perpetrators risk up to three years in prison and a fine of €45,000.

A New Life for Nébé

The SPA has now taken official ownership of Nébé through a legal transfer. He will receive the necessary medical care and, once rehabilitated, will be placed for adoption in a loving home.

Animal welfare organizations continue to urge the public to report cases of abuse, emphasizing that vigilance and timely intervention can save lives.
