Mango, the Dog Who Survived DANA, Stolen in Barcelona for Dogfighting

Mango, who had previously survived the deadly DANA storm of 2024 in Valencia, is now feared to be at risk of being used in illegal dogfighting. Though Mango is castrated and docile, making him unsuitable as a fighting dog, experts fear he might be used for sparring—a cruel and illegal practice where dogs are trained to fight, often suffering severe injuries or death.

"Everything was planned," lamented the shelter. Situated in a remote, mountainous area, the kennel is typically a safe haven for animals. Its isolation, however, worked against it this time, as the theft went unnoticed until it was too late.

Reward Offered for Mango’s Safe Return

In response to Mango’s disappearance, SOS Animaux Catalunya has offered a significant reward of €2,000 for any information leading to his recovery. The organization is leveraging social media and public solidarity to spread the word and bring Mango back safely.

Mango, who is microchipped and known for his affectionate nature towards both humans and other animals, has captured the hearts of those who know him. "It breaks our hearts to hear his cries," the shelter shared on its social media platforms. "We hope he can soon reunite with the family who loves him as much as we do."
