Intervention and rescue

Fortunately, a quick-thinking witness filmed the disturbing incident and immediately reported it to Abdel Boudjemaa, a well-known animal welfare investigator. Abdel promptly alerted local police, initiating a swift intervention to rescue Pablo.

Upon arriving at the dog owner's home, the police received no response, prompting them to force entry. While no one was found inside, Pablo was discovered on the balcony, hidden under a tarp serving as a makeshift shelter.

Pablo’s new beginning

The dog was immediately seized and entrusted to the animal welfare organization “1 cœur à la maison” ("One Heart at Home"). Pablo is now safe with a foster family and will remain there until a permanent, loving home can be found.

Seeking justice for Pablo

Determined to ensure that Pablo’s abuser faces justice, Abdel Boudjemaa has launched a fundraising appeal to finance legal action against the dog’s owner. Unfortunately, incidents like this aren't isolated. Recently, similar acts of cruelty occurred in the region, highlighting an urgent need for continued vigilance and action.

Under French law (Article 521-1 of the Penal Code), animal cruelty can result in penalties of up to three years in prison and fines of up to 45,000 euros.
